How to Get Rid of Blackheads Forever

Remember those strips you would put on your nose and after a few minutes you’d peel them off and they ripped out your blackheads? I used to love those things! So gross yet, somehow fascinating and gratifying but, for me it never really solved the problem. My blackheads always came back or the strip wouldn’t get all of them in the first place.

Using quick fixes like those don’t really solve the problem. It’s like wearing spanks when you want to lose weight. It’ll work short term but the reality is you need to make a change to your routine to get long term results. In this instance you need to change up your skincare regimen.

Step One: Exfoliate

How you do this is entirely up to you. There are so many exfoliating products out there that the world is your oyster and you should have no excuse for missing this step. (Yes, a Clarisonic counts.) I love a good sugar scrub or peel! The important thing is that you regularly exfoliate 1-2 times per week just don’t over do it!

Step Two: Deep Cleanse

This is where a good mask will come in to play. I love charcoal masks for banishing blackheads because they are meant to get deep into the pores and suck out all the impurities without completely drying out your skin. Any deep cleansing mask will work so, pick one that you love. 1-2 times a week for this step as well.

Once you have added these steps to your usual skincare regimen you are going to see results within a week or two. And once those blackheads are gone, they’ll stay that way. You will also have radiant glowing skin as an added bonus. Win-win. 🙂

Some of My Favorites:

  • Freeman Beauty; Charcoal and Black Sugar Polishing Mask
  • Origins; Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
  • Arcona; Magic Black Ice Mask
  • St. Ives; Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

Post-workout Beauty Hack

I am the most forgetful person on the planet, I swear. You probably already knew that but I already forgot that I’ve told you. (Ba-dum-bum-tss.) This leaves me with an all too familiar feeling of missing something. Did I grab my keys? Phone? Socks for after my workout? Did I feed the dog? On any given day something will fall through the cracks and I’m left scrambling. Do you know that feeling?

That being said, I do also try my best to always improve myself in any ways I deem necessary. I love tools like calendars and list making apps. They really are game changers when you have a busy life like we all do!

On any given day something will fall through the cracks and I’m left scrambling.

The other day I was running late and threw my gym bag together in a rush. Mistake. Yes, I could have planned the night before but I didn’t. I never do. Who even has time for that? Sometimes I’m home with little time to wash my face and put some PJ’s on just so that I can get 5 hours of sleep, only to rush off and do it all over again. That is my real life and my days only contain 24 hours, some of which I need to use for sleep. So, I was rushing and shockingly, forgot a few (okay most of) my beauty essentials to look presentable for the day. In all honesty, I had 8 lipsticks and a tube of mascara with me. Now, I may just be the MacGyver of makeup because I did pull it off but it’s certainly not a look I would recreate.

In that moment, I devised a plan so that I may never be in that silly predicament again. I know you can wear lipstick on your cheeks as a blush but that doesn’t mean it’s ideal. So, here’s what I do now… you know all of those travel sized items that your favorite makeup and hair brands sell? Well, I started buying the minis in the same items I have in my regular sizes but, I don’t exactly use them for travel. I created a gym makeup bag with my staples for getting ready. So, now I’ve got hairspray, foundation, mascara and even concealer at the ready, in my bag. I even threw in my favorite day fragrance roller ball so that I will smell great too.

It’s a really nice feeling to know that I have everything I need and I can stop worrying about forgetting something important.  I may still forget my socks but it’s progress. I still have all of my full sizes at home. I’m left with one less thing to do in the mornings and no longer do I need to lug a heavy overstuffed bag of products to the gym.

Why didn’t I think of this sooner?  🙂
